On the afternoon of the 21st, CATHAY PAC AIR responded by stating that they would refuse to allow the two passengers who caused the disturbance to fly on any future Jiangxi Guotai Group flights. Passenger insulted by couple behind them for adjusting seat back, cabin crew did not change seats or resolve dispute
On September 21, a netizen claimed that on September 17, they were flying on a CATHAY PAC AIR flight from Hong Kong to London. After the plane was flying smoothly, the netizen adjusted their seat back, and the passengers behind them claimed that it was "obstructing their view of the TV" and demanded that the seat back be adjusted. After refusing the demands of the passengers behind them, they were subjected to continuous harassment and insults for a long period of time. The netizen sought help from a flight attendant, who only asked them to adjust the seat back, which the netizen refused to do. Subsequently, the man behind started kicking the seat back and deliberately hitting the seat numerous times. The woman stated that during this time, she asked the cabin crew several times to intervene, but the cabin crew failed to effectively resolve the dispute. Initially, as the economy class seats were full, the cabin crew stated that they could not change seats for the woman. However, after the situation escalated and several passengers spoke out in support of the woman, condemning the behavior of the passengers behind her as "disrespectful," the cabin crew finally arranged for her to switch seats to the premium economy class.
