The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government signed a cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the country to support the development of new productive forces in Hong Kong in accordance with local conditions.
On September 19th, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, and Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China, Miao Wei, jointly witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Special Administrative Region government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on the development of new productive forces to promote new industrialization in Beijing.
On September 19, Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu and Minister of Industry and Information Technology Jin Zhuanglong witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China in Beijing. The agreement aims to support the development of new productive forces in Hong Kong, promote new industrialization, enhance cooperation in the industrial and information technology sectors, and promote collaboration between the two regions in their respective advantageous industries for mutual development.
John Lee Ka-chiu stated that the agreement is an important step in integrating Hong Kong into the national development plan. The SAR government will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to promote innovation, technology, and industry cooperation, inject new energy into economic development, and make greater contributions to the comprehensive promotion of national development and the rejuvenation of the nation.
John Lee Ka-chiu also highlighted that Hong Kong will focus on four areas to promote the development of new productive forces, including increasing innovation efforts, cultivating emerging industries, establishing a modern industrial system, enhancing industrial competitiveness, and promoting cooperation between government, industry, academia, research, and investment. He also mentioned that Hong Kong has a strong foundation in scientific research and a highly rule of law-based business environment. He emphasized the need to improve the innovation and technology industry chain and supply chain, attract emerging industries to settle in Hong Kong, and ensure the sustainable development of Hong Kong's innovation and technology sector.
Minister Jin Zhuanglong of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology mentioned that Hong Kong has a unique advantage in being connected to the world through its ties with the motherland. The prospects for the development of new industrialization are promising. The signing of the cooperation agreement will strengthen communication, promote cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, green and low-carbon technologies, new energy, and new materials, and assist Hong Kong in economic development and improving people's livelihoods.
