China Railway Group: The number of railway passengers nationwide reached nearly 3 billion in the first eight months of the year, an increase of 14.5% year-on-year.

China Railway released information that from January to August this year, nearly 3 billion passengers traveled by railway nationwide, a year-on-year increase of 14.5%, setting a new historical high for the same period. The national railway transportation has been safe, smooth, and orderly. Since the beginning of this year, China Railway Group has conscientiously implemented the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, adhered to the development ideology centered on the people, actively adapted to the steady improvement of China's economy and the accelerated flow of people, carefully organized passenger transportation, and provided safe, orderly, warm, and convenient travel services for the people. Firstly, passenger transport capacity has been enhanced. The national railway arranges for the operation of 10,730 passenger trains daily, a year-on-year increase of 10.5%, dynamically analyzing passenger travel demand, timely increasing capacity in popular directions and sections to meet the travel needs of passengers. Efforts have been made to operate tourist trains to boost tourism and silver economy development. Cross-border passenger transport organization has been strengthened, with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail sending nearly 18 million cross-border passengers, a 46% increase year-on-year, and the China-Laos railway sending 163,000 cross-border passengers. Regular passenger train services have been maintained, with the operation of public welfare "slow trains" and rural revitalization trains, facilitating travel for people in remote and poverty-stricken areas. Secondly, service quality has been improved. Railway 12306 service functions have been optimized, ticket sales strategies have been scientifically formulated, and the passenger ticket purchase experience has been continuously enhanced. New types of ticket services, such as trip-based tickets and season tickets, have covered 60 routes, and tourist package tickets have covered 11 routes. The railway travel codes cover all EMU trains, convenient transfers can be made at 120 stations nationwide, internet meal reservation services are available at more than 80 stations, "quiet carriages" have been extended to 92 EMU trains, improving the quality of onboard dining services, providing services for elderly, young, sick, disabled, pregnant passengers, actively advocating civilized travel, and creating a warm and comfortable travel environment. Thirdly, transportation safety and stability have been ensured. Upholding the principles of people first, life first, and safety first, active measures have been taken to deal with extreme weather and natural disasters, strengthen monitoring and warning, line inspections, equipment maintenance, and take proactive risk aversion measures to ensure the safe operation of passenger trains. Passenger boarding and alighting organization has been strengthened, station security checks have been intensified, effectively ensuring the safe and orderly travel of passengers. In the next steps, China Railway Group will closely monitor changes in passenger flow demand, coordinate high-speed and conventional railways, optimize train operation plans dynamically, enrich passenger transportation service offerings, enhance station services, carefully organize transportation during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays, and strive to make the travel experience of the general public even better.
