From January to August, passenger car production and sales reached 16.141 million and 16.157 million respectively, with year-on-year increases of 3% and 3.3% respectively. In August 2024, among the major types of passenger cars, compared to the previous month, the production and sales of the four major categories of passenger cars showed varying degrees of growth. Compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and crossover passenger cars showed varying degrees of growth, while the production and sales of basic passenger cars (sedans) and multi-purpose passenger vehicles (MPVs) showed varying degrees of decline. From January to August, among the major types of passenger cars, compared with the same period last year, the production and sales of sports utility vehicles (SUVs) showed a slight increase, while the production and sales of the other three major types of passenger cars showed varying degrees of decline. In August 2024, domestic sales of passenger cars were 1.744 million, a month-on-month increase of 9.3% but a year-on-year decrease of 9.4%. From January to August 2024, domestic sales of passenger cars were 12.981 million, a year-on-year decrease of 1.6%. In August 2024, passenger car exports were 438,000, a month-on-month increase of 9.7% and a year-on-year increase of 25.6%. From January to August 2024, passenger car exports were 3.176 million, a year-on-year increase of 29.4%.
