On August 16, according to data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in the first half of 2024, China's lithium-ion battery industry continued to grow. According to the announcement of the lithium battery industry norms and calculations by industry associations, the total output of lithium batteries in the country in the first half of the year was 480GWh, an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year. In the battery sector, from January to June, the production of energy storage lithium batteries exceeded 110GWh. The installed capacity of power lithium batteries for new energy vehicles was about 203GWh. The total export value of lithium batteries in the country from January to June reached 193.4 billion yuan. In the first-level materials sector, from January to June, the national production of positive electrode materials, negative electrode materials, diaphragms, and electrolytes reached 1.26 million tons, 820,000 tons, 8.3 billion square meters, and 510,000 tons respectively, with year-on-year growth rates all exceeding 16%. In the second-level materials sector, from January to June, the national production of lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide was 298,000 tons and 175,000 tons respectively, with average prices of battery-grade lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide (micro-powder grade) reaching 103,000 yuan/ton and 93,000 yuan/ton respectively.
