According to the latest Global Memory Market Tracker report for the third quarter of 2026 released by Counterpoint Research, driven by strong demand from AI accelerators and data centers as well as rising prices, DRAM revenue in the third quarter of 2026 grew by nearly 5 times year-on-year. The firm said the market is currently in a price-driven supercycle rather than a shipment-driven cycle. DRAM bit shipments grew only about 4% this quarter, but market revenue has approached $200 billion, roughly 5 times the level of the same period last year. AI has transformed memory from a commodity into a scarce, high-value resource; buyers are now competing for supply security rather than haggling repeatedly over prices. With prices continuing to rise, suppliers are expected to set new profit records in the next quarter.
