On November 6, it was learned from the Chinese Academy of Sciences that Chinese scientists, relying on the China Space Station's ultracold atom physics experiment rack and using all-optical trap cooling technology, reduced the equivalent temperature of a rubidium atom cloud to 9.7 picokelvin, 14 orders of magnitude lower than room temperature, and were able to observe it continuously for 7 seconds, setting a new human low-temperature record. The achievement was demonstrated, managed, and integrated under the leadership of the Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and jointly completed by Peking University and the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The related paper was published in the international academic journal Science.
