Zhitong Finance APP has learned that, according to three people familiar with the matter, AstraZeneca (AZN.US) had proposed to acquire obesity drug developer Rhythm Pharmaceuticals (RYTM.US) for about $10 billion. The people familiar with the matter said AstraZeneca's offer in the non-binding acquisition proposal reached as high as $134 per share, including payments tied to the achievement of milestone targets. Affected by this news, Rhythm's stock closed up 28% at $110.68 on Wednesday.
