The UAE is considering building a third crude oil pipeline to bypass the Strait of Hormuz.
The UAE is considering building a third crude oil export pipeline to transport crude to areas outside the Strait of Hormuz, thereby significantly reducing its dependence on this shipping route, according to people familiar with the matter. ADNOC plans to plan a pipeline connecting the UAE's west coast with the eastern port of Fujairah, the people said, requesting anonymity because the information has not been made public. The pipeline may be open to third parties and interconnected with existing pipelines as well as another pipeline planned to break ground next year, enhancing the ability to ensure crude supply in the event of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. ADNOC has already briefed some Asian customers on the pipeline project, the people also said. However, the plan has not yet been finalized, and details such as the route alignment remain subject to adjustment.
