The reporter learned from State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. that as of the end of September, the installed capacity of new-type energy storage in the Xinjiang power grid reached 25.115 million kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 90.6%, with 4.964 million kilowatts newly added during the year, ranking first in the country in total installed capacity. The commissioning of large-scale energy storage is equivalent to equipping the power system with a "giant power bank," which can effectively smooth out the randomness and volatility of wind and solar power generation, enabling renewable energy power to be "generated, stored, and transmitted steadily," and significantly enhancing the power grid's capacity to absorb renewable energy. From January to September this year, new-type energy storage in the Xinjiang power grid charged 10.71 billion kilowatt-hours and discharged 9 billion kilowatt-hours, with energy storage utilization hours reaching 1,163 hours. As an important national energy strategic base, Xinjiang continues to accelerate the construction of large wind and solar bases while advancing the layout of diversified new-type energy storage. At present, Xinjiang has formed an energy storage industry system featuring the coordinated development of multiple technical routes, including lithium iron phosphate, all-vanadium flow, sodium-ion, flywheel, supercapacitor, and compressed air, providing stable, reliable, and diversified regulation support for the grid integration and absorption of large-scale renewable energy.
