National Development and Reform Commission: China will build about 15 new civil transport airports during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.

The National Development and Reform Commission stated that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China will build approximately 15 new civil transport airports, with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Chongqing as centers, to create world-class airport clusters featuring primary-secondary coordination, complementary functions, and consideration of both passenger and cargo transport. The new airports in Hohhot, Xiamen, and Dalian will be completed, new airports in Guangzhou and Nantong will be built, preliminary work on new airports such as Sanya will be advanced, a batch of hub airport expansions and renovations will be implemented, and a number of airports in border areas will be built.
