At the "Striving for the 15th Five-Year Plan" series of press conferences held by the National Development and Reform Commission today, it was learned that during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, China will focus on basic research and original innovation, prioritize the layout of science and education infrastructure and major national science and technology infrastructure, organize and implement a batch of national science and technology programs, and improve the quality of science and technology supply. Ren Zhongbao, Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation and High-Tech Development of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced that facing the development of industrial common technologies, the layout of national science and technology innovation platforms and bases will be improved, and according to the needs of implementing national tasks, a batch of national emerging industry innovation centers and national industrial technology engineering centers will be newly built and upgraded. Facing enterprise technological innovation, the principal role of enterprises in science and technology innovation will continue to be strengthened, enterprises will be supported in leading the implementation of national science and technology projects and leading the construction of innovation platforms, and in particular, enterprises will be supported in building basic research platforms. A batch of industrial innovation projects will be planned and organized for implementation, and unconventional measures will be taken to promote decisive breakthroughs in key core technologies in key fields across the entire chain.
