Gold Fields (GFI.US) rose more than 6%, Harmony Gold (HMY.US) rose nearly 6%, Pan American Silver (PAAS.US), AngloGold Ashanti (AU.US), and Freeport-McMoRan (FCX.US) rose more than 4%, Southern Copper (SCCO.US) and First Majestic Silver (AG.US) rose nearly 4%, Kinross Gold (KGC.US) and Newmont (NEM.US) rose more than 3%, and BHP Billiton (BHP.US) rose more than 2%. Spot gold broke through $3,960/oz during intraday trading, rising more than 2% on the day. Spot silver broke through $51/oz during intraday trading, rising 4% on the day.
