Shanxi's coalbed methane output hits record high in first three quarters

In the first three quarters of this year, Shanxi's coalbed methane (CBM) production reached 11.74 billion cubic meters, a record high for the same period in history, accounting for about 80.2% of the national output. Shanxi's predicted CBM resources at depths shallower than 2,000 meters are about 8.31 trillion cubic meters, nearly one-third of the national total. Leveraging its CBM resources, Shanxi has overcome the challenge of helium extraction and has developed a combined process route of "membrane separation + pressure swing adsorption + alloy dehydrogenation + low-temperature purification," successfully producing 6N-grade ultra-high-purity helium, with production capacity and output steadily increasing.
