The Nikkei index showed little reaction to the Bank of Japan's plan to accelerate its ETF selling.
The Nikkei 225 fell about 2.3%, slightly narrowing its earlier decline. Investors believe the BOJ's decision to accelerate the pace of ETF sales has limited impact on the market. Daiwa Securities senior strategist Shuji Hosoi said: "Compared with the scale of transactions by major overseas investors, the size of this sell-off is still small." Aizawa Securities senior strategist Yukihiro Kawanishi said this has limited impact on market supply and demand and may in fact bring some benefits as stock liquidity improves.
