Apple Bets Again That Buyers Will Pay More, Set to Unveil High-End Touchscreen MacBook Pro on Wednesday
Apple plans to unveil new high-end 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models on Wednesday at its Pro and Tell event, adding more expensive options to its existing lineup. These new products will feature so-called OLED XDR touchscreens and a Dynamic Island design, both firsts for the Mac. At the same time, starting prices are being pushed to new highs. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple has discussed pricing the new 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip at $2,899. That is $400 more than the current M5 Pro version, which launched in March and had its price raised in June.
