Megan Jenkins, Senior Principal Analyst for Asian LNG at S&P Global Energy, said that if capacity supply through the Strait of Hormuz remains tight after the new year, Asian LNG spot prices could average as high as $30/MMBtu in January and February. Speaking Tuesday at the Singapore International Energy Week conference, Jenkins said that under that scenario, prices may fall back to around $20/MMBtu as the market enters the low-demand season from March to May. If Qatari supply recovers in January, prices in next year's low-demand season would drop to around $10/MMBtu. S&P Global expects the October-December average to be around $26/MMBtu.
