On October 26 local time, Mexican President Sheinbaum stated that since U.S. President Trump took office, the U.S. side has repeatedly requested to send personnel into Mexican territory to participate in operations against drug trafficking groups, but Mexico has consistently refused. Speaking at a morning press conference that day, Sheinbaum said the Mexican government has always upheld the safeguarding of national sovereignty and territorial integrity and does not allow U.S. armed forces to directly conduct anti-drug operations within Mexican territory. Sheinbaum stressed that Mexico is willing to continue security cooperation with the United States, including intelligence sharing and border law enforcement coordination, but both sides must follow the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, mutual trust, and coordination rather than subordination. Actual law enforcement operations within Mexican territory should be the responsibility of the relevant Mexican authorities.
