China Merchants Securities International stated in a report that it has lowered its forecast for Tesla's (TSLA.O) net profit attributable to parent for 2026 to 2028 by 41%, 44%, and 53%, respectively, reflecting higher R&D and selling, general and administrative expense ratios and a slower ramp-up pace for Cybercab; using a sum-of-the-parts valuation, it cut the target price by 19.7% to $354 from the previous $441, maintaining a "Neutral" rating. The firm is bullish on the long-term growth potential of FSD, Robotaxi, and Optimus, but in the near term, increased R&D and capital expenditures mean scaled profitability has yet to be realized.
