Statistical departments will advance the revision of cultural industry classification.

Feng Yilin, Deputy Director of the Department of Social, Science and Technology, and Cultural Industry Statistics at the National Bureau of Statistics, said on October 22 at the Cultural Finance Forum of the 2026 Financial Street Forum Annual Meeting that in 2025, national cultural industry operating revenue reached 20.8 trillion yuan, setting a new historical high, rising from less than 14 trillion yuan to more than 20 trillion yuan over five years. Among this, operating revenue of new cultural formats reached 7.7 trillion yuan, accounting for 36.8% of total cultural industry operating revenue and becoming an important driver of cultural industry growth. Statistics departments will advance the revision of cultural industry classification to serve the high-quality development of the cultural industry with high-quality cultural statistical monitoring.
