A judge in New Mexico ruled on Wednesday that Meta must pay a $25 billion penalty, accusing Meta of making misleading statements regarding user data privacy, content moderation, and other matters. The case traces back to the 2018 "Cambridge Analytica" scandal, which involved the leak of information belonging to 87 million users. New Mexico Attorney General Ral Torrez said this is the largest judgment against the company by a single state in U.S. history.
