On October 21, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Djiboutian Foreign Minister Omar in Beijing. Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Djibouti relations have maintained a sound and steady momentum of development. The two sides have deepened political mutual trust, and cooperation in various fields has benefited the people of Djibouti. An important experience in the development of China-Djibouti relations is treating each other as equals, mutual trust and mutual support. China appreciates Djibouti's adherence to the one-China principle and hopes that Djibouti will continue to give firm support on issues concerning China's core interests. Wang Yi said that China attaches importance to the China-Djibouti comprehensive strategic partnership and is ready to further deepen practical cooperation with Djibouti. The two sides should make good use of two "full plays." First, fully leverage the benefits of the zero-tariff policy; second, fully leverage Djibouti's geographical advantages. China encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Djibouti, and will take the opportunity of building the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway prosperity belt to help Djibouti give play to its comprehensive supporting advantages in infrastructure and help Djibouti build itself into a regional hub for commerce, logistics and connectivity.
