National Energy Administration: Five Major Scenario Models Defined for the Integrated Development of Coal Power and New Energy; Annual Carbon Emissions of Integrated Projects Strive to Be Reduced by More Than 10%
Zhitong Finance APP has learned that the National Energy Administration recently issued implementation opinions on promoting the integrated development of coal power and new energy. It states that the integration of coal power and new energy should be implemented without reducing coal power's supporting and regulating capacity for the power system. The scale of new energy in integrated projects should match the regulating capacity improved through the upgrading and transformation of coal-fired power units. Carbon reduction in coal power should be strengthened, and the quality and effectiveness of coal power carbon reduction should be effectively improved. New energy consumption should be promoted, curtailment of wind and solar power should be reduced, and the level of new energy consumption should be effectively enhanced. Diverse innovation should be encouraged, and support should be given to exploring pilot applications of integration technologies. Adherence to local conditions should be maintained, and suitable integration scenario models should be selected scientifically. By the end of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, integration scenario models for coal power and new energy will be applied maturely, and the annual carbon emission level of integrated projects will be significantly lower than before transformation and construction.
