CATL's battery pressure relief patent authorized; sealing film can handle high temperatures or overpressure.

According to Tianyancha, the patent for "Battery Device and Power Consuming Device" applied for by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited was granted authorization on October 16, and its current legal status is valid. The abstract shows that the melting point of the sealing film is higher than the normal operating temperature of the battery cell group and lower than its temperature threshold. When the temperature inside the box is abnormal, the film can melt and expose the exhaust hole; under overpressure, it can also fail due to pressure changes, allowing gas to be discharged. Tianyancha also shows that another patent of the company, "Pressure Relief Device, Battery Cell, Battery and Power Consuming Equipment," was published on October 13 and is still under examination. This solution, through progressively formed pressure relief grooves and score grooves, aims to reduce forming force and crack risk, and to reduce the possibility of pressure relief components failing due to cracks.
