Trump's public approval rating hits a new low
A joint Reuters/Ipsos poll released on the 19th showed that US President Trump's approval rating stands at just 31%, a historic low across his two terms in office. According to Reuters, the four-day poll found that only 31% of respondents approve of Trump's performance in his current term, down 1 percentage point from the survey two weeks earlier and the lowest level across Trump's two terms. When asked which party's candidate they would support if congressional elections were held now, Democrats led Republicans by 12 percentage points, with the two parties at 47% and 35% support respectively. This is the largest lead Democrats have held in polling this election cycle. The previous poll two weeks earlier showed Democrats leading Republicans by 7 percentage points, with the two parties at 44% and 37% support respectively.
