Ministry of Transport issues action plan to promote the application of new energy vessels on inland waterways by scenario

On October 20, the 2026 North Bund International Shipping Forum opened in Shanghai, with a series of government-led achievements unveiled at the opening ceremony. To accelerate the application of new energy vessels in the inland waterway transport sector, the Ministry of Transport recently issued the Action Plan for Promoting the Application of New Energy Vessels on Inland Waterways, deploying 11 key tasks in areas including promoting the classified application of new energy vessels across multiple scenarios. Advancing the development of new energy vessels is an important measure for implementing the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, and for accelerating the building of a country with strong transportation, manufacturing, and energy sectors. It is conducive to building a new energy system and promoting the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
