Despite high tanker rates, period charter orders still surged significantly. According to Seasure Shipbroking, two very large crude carriers (VLCCs) were chartered at $85,000/day and $120,000/day for three years and six months, respectively. Currently, the benchmark one-year period charter rate for VLCCs stands at $268,750/day.
