The Pentagon has reached a framework agreement with BAE Systems to mass-produce APKWS precision guidance kits.

The U.S. Department of Defense has reached a framework agreement with BAE Systems to produce up to 25,000 APKWS precision guidance kits per year over seven years, with capacity for allied nations expandable to as many as 35,000 kits per year. The kits convert unguided rockets into low-cost laser-guided weapons, a type of equipment increasingly being used to counter drones. The deal still requires congressional funding, and the transaction amount has not been disclosed.
