A passenger plane caught fire in its engine during takeoff in Peru.
On the morning of October 19 local time, at Jorge Chvez International Airport in Lima, the capital of Peru, a LATAM Airlines passenger plane originally scheduled to fly to Piura, Peru, suffered a sudden fire in its left engine during takeoff, forcing the flight to abort takeoff. According to passengers on board, as the Airbus A320 was accelerating for takeoff, passengers saw the engine on fire through the cabin windows, with orange flames briefly illuminating the cabin. LATAM Airlines said the aircraft encountered an unexpected technical failure before takeoff, and passengers were subsequently evacuated. The airport emergency team responded to the incident, and no casualties have been reported so far.
