Nestl and Unilever face Indian regulatory investigation over false health claims
India's food regulator has issued notices to Nestl India and Hindustan Unilever, accusing both of misleading advertising regarding nutritional supplements, as it continues to push forward a nationwide special campaign on food safety. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India said in a post on X that Nestl's "Resource Renal Vanilla Powder," which is intended as a dietary supplement to help manage medical conditions, had neither obtained prior approval nor indicated whether the product is suitable for vegetarians. The regulator said both companies violated relevant regulations and has asked the manufacturers to respond.
