Precious metals' decline continues unabated; experts say the outlook for precious metals should be viewed with caution.
Recently, multiple precious metals, including gold, silver, platinum, and palladium, have declined collectively. Taking gold as an example, during the daytime trading session on October 15, the SGE Au99.99 spot contract fell to as low as 880 yuan per gram intraday, down about 30% from its high for the year. Silver prices fell even more sharply. That day, the main SHFE silver futures contract closed down more than 5%, falling below 14,000 yuan per kilogram, with a cumulative decline of more than 50% from this year's high. Domestic platinum and palladium futures also showed very weak trends, among which the price of the main GFEX palladium futures contract hit a record low since listing intraday that day. The recent decline in precious metal prices has been affected by multiple factors, including expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, and the upstream and downstream segments of the precious metals industry chain have been affected to varying degrees. Interviewed experts generally believe that the outlook for precious metals should be viewed cautiously.
