Harvard's endowment reaches a record $68 billion, boosted by holdings including SpaceX.
Thanks to successful investments in stocks and venture capital, Harvard University's endowment has surged to a record $68 billion. The funds have helped the wealthiest university in the United States withstand an unprecedented pressure campaign launched by President Donald Trump. Harvard said in its financial report for the fiscal year ending in June, released on Thursday, that the endowment returned 27% and that endowment income rose to $1.5 billion. The endowment grew by a total of $11 billion for the fiscal year, benefiting from broad gains in stock market and hedge fund portfolios. Harvard significantly outperformed the median 19% pre-fee return of large U.S. university endowments, posting its best annual performance since 2021, when markets rebounded from the COVID-induced slump.
