Google revamps its in-car app store, adding multiple new entertainment apps.
Google is rolling out a redesigned in-car Google Play Store for vehicles with Google built-in, adding a range of new entertainment apps, and launching a new YouTube feature: audio can continue playing after the vehicle switches from park to drive. This Google Play Store update will roll out gradually over the coming weeks. The new in-car app store interface has been redesigned, adding apps such as Starz, Firefox, Ludo King, and JioHotstar for use while parked. A new YouTube feature is also launching, allowing audio from videos watched while parked to continue playing once the vehicle is in motion. Google says vehicles with Google built-in span 16 brands and more than 100 models. Apps such as Google Maps and Gemini can run directly on the car's head unit without needing to connect a phone. The in-car Google Play Store has more than 700 apps.
