World Steel Association: Global steel demand forecast at 1.722 billion tons in 2026, roughly flat compared with 2025.

Zhito Finance APP has learned that on October 12, the World Steel Association released its short-term steel demand forecast report for 2026-2027. The report estimates that global steel demand in 2026 will be basically flat compared with 2025, at 1.722 billion tons, and will recover by 1.7% in 2027 to 1.752 billion tons. China's steel demand is expected to decline by 2.0% in 2026, a downward revision from the April forecast. Steel demand in developing economies (excluding China) is expected to grow by 1.9% in 2026 and continue to grow by 5.1% in 2027.
