Eritrea calls for UN intervention to address tensions with Ethiopia
The Eritrean government called on the United Nations on the 10th to take "necessary measures" against Ethiopia in response to escalating diplomatic tensions between the two countries. Eritrean Foreign Minister Osman Saleh said in a letter to the UN Security Council on the 10th that Ethiopia's recent accusations against Eritrea are "a deceptive move attempting to use self-defense as a pretext to justify its act of launching war against a sovereign state." He requested the Security Council to "strongly condemn Ethiopia's act of declaring war on Eritrea."
