Eight people injured as flight to the United States encounters severe turbulence

According to US media reports, in the early hours of today local time, a Colombian airline Airbus A320 flying from Medellin, Colombia, to New York, USA, encountered severe turbulence during the flight. According to data from a flight tracking website, the aircraft "descended 25,000 feet in a matter of minutes" and was ultimately forced to divert and land in Miami.
