The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao: Urge the U.S. side to stop interfering in China's internal affairs and reflect on its own poor record on human trafficking.
According to the website of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region on the 9th, in response to the so-called "2026 Trafficking in Persons Country Report" recently issued by the U.S. Department of State, which maliciously slanders the remarkable achievements of the Macao Special Administrative Region in combating human trafficking, smears its human rights situation, and grossly interferes in Macao affairs and China's internal affairs, the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Macao expresses strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition. Since Macao's return to the motherland, with the strong support of the central government, the SAR government has adhered to law-based governance, resolutely cracked down on illegal and criminal acts such as human trafficking, actively and effectively carried out preventive work, and continuously participated in international and regional cooperation. For many years, Macao's human trafficking crime rate has remained extremely low or even at zero, making it internationally recognized as one of the safest cities in the world. The vast number of Macao residents and foreign nationals in Macao have long enjoyed a stable and prosperous life, and their safety and legitimate rights and interests are fully protected. We once again urge the U.S. side to position itself correctly, reflect on its own poor record on human trafficking, immediately stop its year-after-year political manipulation with ulterior motives, and immediately stop interfering in Macao affairs and China's internal affairs in any form.
