The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance have deployed the implementation of the 2026 Silver Age Teaching Program.

Recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education and the General Office of the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the Notice on the Implementation of the 2026 Silver-Age Teaching Program, making arrangements for the program. The Notice specifies that the 2026 Silver-Age Teaching Program will mainly target counties that have been lifted out of poverty, underdeveloped ethnic minority counties, counties in former revolutionary base areas, border counties, and regiment farms of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, with priority given to key counties receiving national assistance for rural revitalization. The program plans to recruit 6,000 silver-age teaching teachers for the compulsory education stage. On this basis, provinces are encouraged to select outstanding retired teachers on their own to teach in other counties and townships with weak educational development according to local conditions, and to include regular senior high schools in the scope of independent implementation as needed.
