The Federal Reserve will release the minutes of its September monetary policy meeting at 2 a.m. on Thursday. According to analysis reports from foreign media, the meeting minutes are expected to show broader disagreements among officials over the future interest rate path, which could affect the Fed's next policy move. Although the market currently widely expects the Fed to keep interest rates unchanged in October, the September meeting minutes may help reveal just how deep the divisions among Fed officials are: some officials believe inflation remains strong and persistent and requires continued tightening, such as Dallas Fed President Logan, who believes that at least two more 25-basis-point rate hikes are needed to control inflation; another group of officials tends to remain patient and wait for new data to prove that further rate hikes are truly necessary, such as New York Fed President Williams, who believes there is "no need to rush" when deciding when to raise rates again, a view also echoed by Fed Vice Chair Jefferson.
