Ticket prices on popular routes have already fallen back, with some long-haul ticket prices dropping by more than 70% compared with before the holiday.

As the National Day holiday draws to a close, airfare prices on some popular routes have already begun to fall. Meituan data shows that the average tax-inclusive ticket price from Shanghai to Hulunbuir on October 7 was about 490 yuan, down about 76% from the average of more than 2,000 yuan before the holiday; on October 3 and 4, searches for "special fare tickets" on the platform rose 13% compared with October 1 and 2; amid the price changes, many tourists began turning their attention to trips in the latter half of the holiday and after it. From the latter half of the holiday through the post-holiday period, the price decline has not been limited to a single route, with low fares appearing for both autumn foliage destinations in the north and long-haul destinations in the south. Meituan data shows that on October 5, the average tax-inclusive ticket price for a direct flight from Beijing to Hulunbuir was about 415 yuan, down about 59% from the same period before the holiday; on October 6, the average tax-inclusive ticket price from Hangzhou to Xishuangbanna was about 425 yuan, down about 63% from the same period before the holiday. Prices fell further after the holiday. From October 8 to 14, the average tax-inclusive ticket price from Shanghai to Xishuangbanna was about 396 yuan, down about 65% from the same period before the holiday; on some routes to long-haul destinations such as Lijiang, Dali, Sanya and Kunming, the declines also reached 50% to 60%.
