Ministry of Transport: Continuous rainfall in 1 region poses high risk to highway traffic

According to consultations and assessments by the Ministry of Transport and the China Meteorological Administration, combined with rainfall data from meteorological departments, as of October 6, Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, experienced more than 15 days of precipitation, with cumulative rainfall exceeding 300 millimeters and surpassing the level of the same period in normal years by more than twofold, posing high risks to highway transportation. The Ministry of Transport requires the transportation department of Sichuan Province, under the leadership of local people's governments, to carry out highway safety risk management and control in high-risk areas of continuous rainfall, strictly implement requirements for hidden danger investigation of disaster risks and highway patrols, improve the precision and targeting of force prepositioning, refine proactive defense and control measures, and effectively ensure the safety of people's highway travel during continuous rainfall.
