Saudi Arabia and the UAE will help Asia build up oil reserves, according to Nikkei. Although Asia relies on imports, the region has not been holding adequate supplies. The Asia Zero Emission Community, led by Japan and comprising 11 countries, held a ministerial meeting in the Philippines on Thursday. Senior government officials from Saudi Arabia and the UAE will take part in special consultations and are expected to express their intention to cooperate on oil reserves. On Oct 11, the International Energy Forum will be held in Saudi Arabia. The forum is a ministerial-level dialogue between oil-producing and importing countries. Japan is expected to attend and share a framework for cooperation with Asia. The Asia Zero Emission Community meeting will compile the results into a joint statement as a basis for member countries to discuss strengthening oil reserves with Middle Eastern oil producers. Bilateral discussions will follow to finalize the details and scale of such efforts. Saudi Arabia and the UAE are expected to expand exports to target countries and prioritize supplies in emergencies.
