The reporter learned from the Ministry of Commerce on the 4th that halfway through the National Day holiday, the national consumer market was stable and orderly, with sufficient supplies of daily necessities and stable prices. Big data from the Ministry of Commerce showed that in the first three days of the National Day holiday, foot traffic and sales at 78 pedestrian streets monitored by the Ministry of Commerce increased by 3.4 percent and 5.3 percent year on year, respectively. Trade-ins of consumer goods drove sales of 19.63 billion yuan, benefiting 3.483 million people. Among them, 46,000 vehicles were traded in, driving new car sales of 7.45 billion yuan; 1.511 million home appliances were traded in, driving sales of 6.50 billion yuan; and 1.709 million digital and smart products were purchased, driving sales of 4.90 billion yuan. Markets for daily necessities in various regions had ample supply, with prices generally stable. Big data from the Ministry of Commerce showed that during the holiday period, inventories at 200 large agricultural and sideline products wholesale markets nationwide were sufficient. Prices of grain, edible oil, pork, beef and mutton, and fruit were basically flat compared with before the holiday, while prices of vegetables and chicken both fell 0.5 percent from before the holiday, and egg prices dropped 1.1 percent.
