US Treasury Secretary Bessent said the recent rise in US Treasury yields is in line with global trends and there is no need for excessive alarm. In an interview with Axios on Saturday, he said: "If there were some kind of idiosyncratic rise, I would be worried." "(But) we are not seeing people selling US Treasuries to buy German or Japanese bonds." "I can't control the bond market. What I can do is get people to slow down and think." Bessent also praised US financial intervention in Argentina and expressed openness to similar assistance in the future. He said: "I think Argentina's stabilization has brought about a sea change in Latin America. This may be a generational shift, even unprecedented. We have never had so many Latin American countries aligned with the United States." In addition, Bessent dismissed concerns about an AI bubble, arguing that major players such as Microsoft, Google and Meta are investing large amounts of capital and driving significant revenue growth at companies such as Anthropic and OpenAI.
