As of the end of August, the total number of 5G base stations in China exceeded 5.19 million.

Data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently shows that in the first eight months of this year, China's total telecom business volume grew steadily, and the construction and application of networks such as 5G continued to advance. Among these, as of the end of August, the total number of 5G base stations reached 5.195 million, accounting for 39.7 percent of the total number of mobile base stations. Data shows that as of the end of August, the total number of fixed internet broadband access subscribers of the three basic telecom enterprises reached 704 million, a net increase of 13.65 million compared with the end of last year; the total number of mobile phone subscribers of the three basic telecom enterprises and China Broadcasting Network reached 1.849 billion, of which 5G mobile phone subscribers reached 1.311 billion; the three basic telecom enterprises had 3.07 billion mobile IoT terminal subscribers, a net increase of 182 million compared with the end of last year. Mobile internet access traffic maintained relatively rapid growth. In the first eight months, cumulative mobile internet access traffic reached 297.1 billion GB, a year-on-year increase of 17.3 percent. As of the end of August, the number of mobile internet users reached 1.638 billion, a net increase of 28.58 million compared with the end of last year. The construction of gigabit optical fiber broadband networks continued to advance. As of the end of August, the number of internet broadband access ports nationwide reached 1.27 billion, a net increase of 23.22 million compared with the end of last year. Among them, optical fiber access ports reached 1.23 billion, a net increase of 21.16 million compared with the end of last year, accounting for 96.7 percent of internet broadband access ports.
