Xinjiang's G217 Duku Highway will be closed for winter starting at 20:00 on October 8.

It is learned from the Transport Department of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region that, based on a joint assessment by transport, public security, culture and tourism, and meteorological departments, the entire G217 Duku Highway is expected to enter winter conditions in early October. Snowfall will occur on the mountain sections along the route, with snow and ice accumulating on the road surface, posing significant safety hazards for traffic. To ensure the travel safety of tourists, the G217 Duku Highway will remain open to traffic as normal during the 2026 National Day holiday, and will be closed for the winter starting at 20:00 on October 8, 2026, with social vehicles prohibited from passing. The specific reopening time will be announced separately. Tourists are advised to arrange their travel times and routes accordingly.
