Since the beginning of this year, 159 stocks have doubled, clustering in two major industries.
As of September 30, excluding the first-day gains of new stocks listed during the period, 159 stocks have risen more than 100% so far this year. Stocks from the electronics and mechanical equipment industries were the most numerous, at 64 and 24 respectively, and the number of doubling stocks in the two industries accounted for more than 50% of the total; stocks from the pharmaceutical and biological, and basic chemicals industries ranked third and fourth, at 12 and 9 respectively. These industry sectors, where bullish stocks have frequently emerged, are also the sectors where popular concept stocks such as copper-clad laminates and semiconductor equipment have been concentrated so far this year.
