Libya oil tanker tracking data: Pipeline outage causes September crude exports to fall back
Libya's largest domestic oilfield saw its crude transportation volume more than halve at the end of the month, and the country's crude exports in September fell to a three-month low. Tanker tracking and shipping data show that Libya's crude exports in September were 1.22 million barrels per day, slightly below 1.23 million barrels per day in August. The three-month moving average of crude exports, however, moved in the opposite direction, rising by 11,000 barrels per day to about 1.28 million barrels per day, the highest level since records began in 2015. A pipeline at the Sharara oilfield was shut down by an armed group, halving the field's output to 127,000 barrels per day on September 21; production returned to normal by the end of the month. In early September, two smaller oilfields also briefly suspended production. Crude supply volumes to Mediterranean buyers fell back from August's record high.
