The Federal Aviation Administration issued an airworthiness directive for the Boeing 757-300 model.
The notice shows that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration will issue a new airworthiness directive for the Boeing 757-300 series aircraft. The directive is prompted by crack growth analysis showing that existing maintenance program information and supplemental structural inspection programs do not provide sufficient inspection opportunities to detect cracks arising in the upper frame around the uppermost fastener common to the fail-safe chord at the fuselage frame splice. The airworthiness directive requires inspections of existing repaired areas or a review of maintenance records, and the performance of repetitive inspections. The directive takes effect on November 5.
