Micron Technology (MU.O) expects capital expenditures of approximately $25 billion in the first half of fiscal 2027, with the second half higher, and most of the incremental spending will go toward new wafer fab construction (building costs) rather than equipment purchases. Micron CFO Mark Murphy explained that this is entirely because long-term contracts provide sufficient demand visibility, and building new greenfield fabs requires extremely long lead times.
